Bravose Previews: Fights happening in July 2023
von {{ author }} Kate Rosindale an Jul 01, 2023
The month kicks off with a huge opportunity for a new undisputed champion, when Savannah Marshall takes on Franchon Crews-Dezurn at the AO Arena in Manchester on Saturday 1 July.
The 'Silent Assassin' is eyeing up the WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO Super-Middleweight World Titles after failing to secure victory in her fight with Claressa Shields in October last year.
British Marshall (12-1, 10 KOs) lost that match up – the first time she had suffered defeat in her professional career - by unanimous decision.
By coincidence, American opponent Crews-Dezurn (8-1, 2 KOs) has only ever lost to Shields.
Despite this common ground, the fighters each has a very different style to the other, something which is demonstrated in the contrasting number of knock out victories they have secured during their time in the ring.
While Crews-Dezurn is ever-improving - and has the ability to persevere in fights meaning it is likely the fight could last a while until its conclusion - Marshall is the heavy odds-on favourite for the victory.
Marshall said: "I want it more than ever. I'm craving it.
"I can't walk away after that loss. I can't walk away with nothing. I want the belts. I want to be known as a champion.”
Crews-Dezurn said: "Savannah's a pit stop for me. Respectfully, disrespectfully. My mission is so much bigger.
"And if I got to walk through you, walk through hell, the UK fans, to make my heaven, it's going to happen."
