For a proud Lancashire-based firm such as ourselves there’s one boxing match that sticks out above all other fights during the month of May.
That match sees Chorley boxer Jack Catterall scheduled to meet Darragh Foley in a Super-Lightweight bout on Saturday 27 May.
The clash is on the undercard to Mauricio Lara vs. Leigh Wood II.
Being as he comes from just down the road, we will be rooting for Catterall, aka El Gato, as he looks to find a victory just a few miles further along the motorway at the AO Arena in Manchester.
The 29-year-old goes into the fight with a 26-1 (13 KOs) record, as compared to 34-year-old Foley whose record stands at 22-4-1 (10 KOs).
Sydney-based Irish fighter Foley comes into the bout off the back of five wins. He is riding on the momentum of his latest victory, a TKO against Robbie Davies Jr in March of this year.
This is in contrast to England’s Catterall, whose most recent fight ended in defeat. That bout took place last year against Josh Taylor, when he narrowly lost via a debatable 12 round split decision.
Now Catterall is looking to bounce back from that loss – the first of his career – and take care of business against the tough Foley. With a top 10 world ranking, Catterall will be looking to put his impressive movement and fight IQ to to the test.
